Hepatology, advanced endoscopy and motility took centre stage at King Fahad Specialist Hospital – Dammam, with an engaged audience and a strong line-up of speakers.
An attentive audience on Day One in Dammam.
The first day of the 4th Gastroenterology Educational Program concluded today, Friday 30 October 2026, at the Main Auditorium of King Fahad Specialist Hospital – Dammam, the latest stop in the Saudi Gastroenterology Association's Eastern Region educational series.
The morning was devoted to hepatology, in three consecutive sessions led by Dr. Mohammed AlJawad (viral hepatitis, metabolic liver disease and pregnancy-related liver disease), Dr. Noora Alfaraj (immune-mediated liver disease and acute liver failure) and Dr. Hadi Kuriry (ACLF, cirrhosis and its complications, and transplantation).
After the lunch and prayer break, the programme moved to advanced endoscopy and motility. Dr. Raed AlGhazal covered advanced luminal endoscopy, Dr. Mohammad Albeshir presented advanced biliary disorders, and Dr. Ghoneem Alsayed introduced third-space endoscopy. The day closed with Dr. Ghadah Ismail's session on motility disorders, which walked the audience through the major motility patterns and the high-resolution manometry findings behind them.
The SGA thanks every speaker for clear, practical and well-prepared sessions, and the delegates for filling the hall, staying engaged until the final lecture and contributing to lively discussion throughout the day. Thanks are also due to the host team at King Fahad Specialist Hospital – Dammam for their hospitality and the smooth running of the programme.
Day Two takes place tomorrow, Saturday 31 October, and turns to inflammatory bowel disease and general gastroenterology, from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis to esophageal, gastric, small- and large-bowel disorders and GI oncology.
