A practical curriculum equipping pediatric GI fellows with the study-design literacy, basic biostatistics, critical appraisal skills, and research-ethics grounding needed to consume, conduct, and report clinical research responsibly, including the specific regulatory and cultural context of research ethics in Saudi Arabia and the GCC.

Select an appropriate study design (RCT, cohort, case-control, or cross-sectional) for a given pediatric GI research question and critique its strengths and limitations

Apply basic biostatistical concepts, including p-values, confidence intervals, and diagnostic test accuracy measures, to pediatric GI literature and diagnostic tests

Critically appraise a pediatric GI study for bias, confounding, and applicability, and interpret systematic reviews using forest plots and the GRADE framework

Apply the ethical principles specific to pediatric research — assent, parental permission, minimal risk, and vulnerable-population protections — and describe the Saudi NCBE and local IRB approval pathway
