Starting 1 January 2027, SGA members will be able to join the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) at €150 a year instead of €195 — and postgraduate trainees at €80 instead of €90 — when they join or renew their SGA membership.
The SGA × ESGE Dual Membership Programme, effective 1 January 2027.
The Saudi Gastroenterology Association (SGA) and the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) have signed a Dual Membership Programme Agreement. The agreement was signed by SGA President Prof. Majid A. Almadi and ESGE President Prof. Cesare Hassan, and takes effect on 1 January 2027. It is not limited in time and is intended as a long-term partnership.
Under the programme, SGA members who apply for or renew their SGA membership will be offered the option of becoming standard individual members of ESGE for €150 a year, compared with the current standard fee of €195. Postgraduate full-time trainees who are employed in a clinical unit with formal digestive endoscopy activity can join as ESGE / SGA trainee individual members for €80 a year, compared with the standard trainee fee of €90. The trainee rate is time-limited.
Members who join through the programme receive the full benefits of ESGE individual membership, as listed on the ESGE website. The membership fee is linked to ESGE's subscription agreement for the journal Endoscopy.
Joining is designed to be simple: SGA members who opt in are redirected to a dedicated dual-membership registration area on esge.com, where they can join or renew directly with ESGE. On receipt of the fee, ESGE sends an official confirmation letter that includes an invoice and a membership certificate. Members who opt in consent to their data being shared with ESGE, and it is then processed under the ESGE Privacy Policy.
The agreement also opens wider cooperation between the two societies. SGA may translate ESGE guidelines into Arabic for its website, subject to ESGE's prior approval of each translation, and may put forward members to take part in ESGE guideline working groups. ESGE will distribute SGA informational material at ESGE booths, SGA may post information about its congresses and workshops on the ESGE website, and updates about the SGA board may be announced through the ESGE eNewsletter.
The programme is sustained by members opting in each year, and SGA has agreed to promote ESGE membership and ESGE events to its members. SGA members interested in joining will be able to do so when they join or renew their SGA membership from January 2027.
