Saudi Arabia is just starting its green endoscopy journey -- here's the case for catching up fast.
Syed Anjum Gardezi, Abdulrahman Saleh, Mohammed Al Omar, et al.
This review examines the environmental footprint of gastrointestinal endoscopy and surveys international efforts, such as waste segregation, reusable devices, and carbon tracking, to make the practice more sustainable. It finds Saudi Arabia at an early stage compared to peer countries, held back by a lack of national guidelines, limited awareness, and weak recycling infrastructure. The authors argue that Vision 2030's sustainability goals create a timely opportunity for the Kingdom to build coordinated policy and infrastructure in this area.
